  • To use the Inbox Repair Tool, quit Outlook, go to Repair Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost), and follow the appropriate steps.

If repairing Outlook data files did not resolve the issue, go to step six.


Step 6: Create a new profile user name

  • Your profile stores a variety of settings that control how Outlook looks and works.  You can create a new profile and add email accounts to the new profile.
  • Close Outlook.
  • Choose one of the following:
  • In Windows 10, choose Start.  Type Control Panel and press Enter.  Choose User Accounts, Mail, then Show Profiles.
  • In Windows 8, open the list of applications, and choose Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles.
  • Choose Add, and in the Profile Name field, type the name of the profile, then select OK.
  • Enter the email address and password for the primary email account you use in Outlook, and then follow the steps to create the profile.
  • After creating the profile, in the Show Profiles dialogue, choose Prompt for the profile to be used.
  • Choose the new profile after you start Outlook.
  • If your issue of Outlook errors is resolved by creating a new profile, you can return to the Show Profiles dialogue and delete the old profile.
